Sockets are tools used in conjunction with torque or socket wrenches or ratchets to aid in the fastening or loosening of nuts and bolts. Sockets provide more contact points between the tool and nut/bolt, allowing more torque to be applied and reducing the risk of rounding the nut/bolt head.
